چکیده
The emerging viral diseases Haemorrhagic Fever with Renal Syndrome (HFRS) and Hanta virus Cardiopulmonary Syndrome (HCPS) are a cause of global concern as they are increasingly reported from newer regions of the world. Dengue also called classic dengue or break bone fever is a Flaviviral infection found in large areas of tropical & subtropical region. Clinically, the febrile illness produced by Dengue virus, Leptospira serotype & Hanta virus may be indistinguishable. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 1782 serum samples were tested from febrile patients for Dengue NS1 Ag, Dengue IgG/IgM by Immunochromatographic Test (ICT) kit & 100 randomly selected serum samples were tested for Hanta virus IgM/IgG ICT by SD Bioline. Other investigations included Hemoglobin estimation, Total & Differential Leucocytes count, hematocrit, platelet count and Liver Function Test (LFT). RESULTS: Out of 1782 serum samples tested, 79 patients (4.4%) tested positive for dengue serology. None of the samples tested positive for Hanta virus IgG/IgM. To conclude, ICT helps for rapid diagnosis of Dengue & Hanta virus infection.

Dengue Fever Serology in Febrile Patients in Southeast Iran
Background: Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that has rapidly spread in all regions in recent years. There is little information on dengue fever epidemiology in Iran. High prevalence of dengue fever in Pakistan bordering southeast Iran emphasizes the need for paying more attention to monitoring of the disease in this region. The aim of this study was to study the dengue...
متن کاملEmergence of Epidemic Dengue-1 Virus in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka
BACKGROUND Dengue is a frequent cause of acute febrile illness with an expanding global distribution. Since the 1960s, dengue in Sri Lanka has been documented primarily along the heavily urbanized western coast with periodic shifting of serotypes. Outbreaks from 2005-2008 were attributed to a new clade of DENV-3 and more recently to a newly introduced genotype of DENV-1. In 2007, we conducted e...

متن کاملPrevalence of patients with acute febrile illnesses and positive dengue NS1 tests in a tertiary hospital in Papua New Guinea.
Because the prevalence of dengue fever in urban settings in Papua New Guinea is unknown, we investigated the presence of dengue using the NS1 antigen test in an outpatient-based prospective observational study at Port Moresby General Hospital. Of 140 patients with acute febrile illnesses, dengue fever was diagnosed in 14.9% (20 of 134; 95% confidence interval [95% CI] = 9.6-22.4). Malaria (2 of...
